Global Development
The core curriculum established in Brazil, as well as in many other countries around the world, consists of studies of languages, mathematics, natural sciences and social sciences. Although there may be an expanded understanding of what each macro-discipline is made up of, such as the arts and physical education being included in languages in the Brazilian National Curriculum (BCNN), there is typically not much investment in offering students a wide range of enriching curricular subjects to broaden their horizons and possibilities in life.
At Stance Dual, we believe that giving students a variety of curricular subjects to study opens up doors out to the world and into themselves in developing who they are as human beings. For this reason we offer many opportunities for students’ global development:
- an expansive physical education program that includes swimming, motor skills classes, sports and education for health and well-being ;
- a visual and performing arts program that includes music, theater and art, focused on developing abilities and creativity, as well as an artistic repertoire;
- a technological project that is fully integrated into interdisciplinary projects (insert link), totally integrated with other curricular subjects, beyond lessons specifically to learn technological tools;
- a social action program that spans throughout all ages;
- curricular chess and games classes from preschool through elementary school (optional in middle school) (insert link);
- curricular gardening classes from preschool through early elementary school;
- curricular Dual Day activities, including: cooking (insert link), environmental education, circus, sign language, robotics (Fun Science) and social entrepreneurship, amongst others;
- an ample range of after school activities, including wood-working, ballet, fencing and judo, just to name a few.
