The Library Mrs. Fusiarska

A library is essential to a school environment. Stance Dual School’s Mrs. Fusiarska Library plays the role of a knowledge-filled space in which students have access to information and culture. Its main objectives are:
1. To awaken the pleasure and the habit of reading;
1. To awaken the pleasure and the habit of reading;
2. To develop informational competence that contributes to the creation of critical and independent readers.
The library’s collection contains titles in English, Portuguese and Spanish in children’s and teen literature. It is composed of literature, textbooks, titles in the field of education and reference books. There are around 22,000 volumes in the collection and it is constantly updated. There are other materials too like DVDs, CDs, maps and posters, besides a wide and varied collection of newsstand prints like magazines, comics and newspapers – national and international.
Special activities are planned periodically, such as book exhibits, research and literary picnics – when some “children’s stories” take a ride during recess times. Story telling, which happens twice a week, is a playful moment when children get in contact with stories from oral traditions organized by Silvio Romero, Câmara Cascudo, Grimm Brothers, among others.
In order to offer a proper service to teachers, employees and students from preschool to middle school, the library has three different and separate spaces – the General Collection, the Mondrian Space and the Multimedia Space, allowing for more than one activity to happen at the same time.
The future we dream of, the inventions that transform our world and the most beautiful stories lived or created are waiting in books. The Mrs. Fusiarska Library invites us to live these adventures and go beyond where our arms and legs can reach.
