CANADA INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM
The Canada International
Program is a two month long incredible experience for our Year 9
students. This Canadian cultural
immersion program occurs at the beginning of the school year, in which students
spend a brief period of time in Vancouver to experience all that this beautiful
city has to offer, especially in terms of getting in touch with Canadian
multiculturalism. After this stop in
Vancouver, students proceed to Victoria, British Columbia’s capital, with the
Stance Dual Team. They are welcomed by
their homestay families and divided into different Canadian middle schools
around the city. Their school routine includes both traditional and exploratory
subjects, like woodworking, fine arts, home economics, amongst others. Stance
Dual, together with Victoria International High School Program, also provides
the students with bi-weekly meetings for group activities including a hockey
game; tour of nearby towns; the chance to learn typical Canadian sports, such
as curling and ice skating; and the always highly anticipated trip to Mount
Washington to play in the snow and go snow tubing. These two months are full of amazing
experiences, in which students learn how to live in another culture and adapt
to a different reality, all the while mobilizing their already firm foundation
in the English language that they’ve gained at Stance!
