Globe Trotting Stance Students
Local Roots, Global Wings. Some of our former students have spread their
wings globally - choosing to study abroad in North America and Europe, all the
while having a firm sense of who they are as Brazilians, their local roots. Here is what some of them have to say and
what their teachers, coaches and parents have to report back.
Ricardo Miranda - Class of 2015
I’m in the business school at University of Colorado -
Boulder. It has been really great living in the US; Boulder is a city filled
with opportunities, great people and an awesome college town. I’m very thankful
for Stance. It was a big part on my intercultural development which has made
possible my success abroad. Today my mind is open for opportunities all around
the globe, Stance turned me into a citizen of the world.
Enzo Lee - Class of 2018 - Currently studying at the
American International School in England
Enzo reports that he tested directly into the regular
English classes of British and American students, whereas almost all other
international students were required to take separate English classes for
international students. He is in the
engineering club, as seen in the photo above.
Here is a comment from one of the teachers at his boarding school:
Enzo is always ready to answer and to contribute to the class. He does
not only answers questions but also bring topics, other questions and good
reflexions to the class. It is fantastic to read his written texts because they
are full of creativity and fun. He manages to bring new stories with the
current leaning topics. He does with joy and generosity. He goes beyond what he
is asked for.
Felipe Bannwart - Class of 2018 - Currently studying at the IMG boarding
school for athletes in the United States of America
Felipe tested into all the classes with American students similarly to
Enzo, even though most international students must take classes specifically
for them due to their level of English.
Here is a comment from Felipe’s soccer coach at IMG:
Felipe is really doing great at IMG. He has settled in very, very well.
He his a very good team player. His
teammates enjoy playing the game with him because he is very skillful on the
ball.
Laura Peçego - Class of 2018 & Pedro Peçego -
Currently in Year 6
Laura and her brother, Pedro, moved to Ontario, Canada
this year with their family. Here is
what their father told us about their transition to Canadian schools.
Laura and Pedro completed extensive assessments in
math and English in order to determine what their knowledge is in each of those
two key areas. They both performed
fantastically! Laura, moreover, was
recommended for the highest academic level of classes (there are no levels at
Pedro’s age). This is a testament to the
excellent quality of education they received at Stance Dual!
