Mad Jack Fruit - Y4


Y4 learned how to use the flesh from a jackfruit to make a vegan recipe that tasted as good as if it contained chicken or meat. They shredded the pieces of jackfruit and sliced other vegetables and herbs to prepare this dish and then tried their creation on toast. To make it more appealing, they had a fun game where they had to try to guess what it was before preparing it.

Ingredients:
1 Jack fruit
½ onion
1 green Bell pepper
1 tomato
2 spoons tomato sauce 
2 spoons olive oil
Herbs: basil and parsley

Method
Chop ½ an onion and fry in olive oil and add chopped bell pepper and tomatoes. Shred the jackfruit and add it to the bell peppers and stir in. Then add your herbs of choice and the tomato sauce and cook for 15 minutes. Serve hot on toast or crackers.
