LEMON TEA ( HOT OR COLD ? ) - Y1

Y1 students had their first cooking class with a special presentation to introduce notions of hygiene and safety as well as some observations involving lemons, limes and the difference between hot and cold drinks. They were excited to use a new squeezing “hack” and they also learned how to prepare special ice-cubes with combinations of lemon, lime or orange and mint to mix into drinks, to prepare hot and cold tea.

INGREDIENTS
1 lemon or lime
1 orange
2 tea bags
½ litre water
1 bunch of mint

Optional: Honey

Method:
To prepare the tea, boil the water and place the tea bags, one for the pot and one for the glass. Add ice cubes with lime and mint. If desired, add some honey for sweetness. You can also add a slice of orange for extra flavor.
The “lemon squeeze hack” involves introducing a wooden stick into one end of the lime, removing it, and squeezing out the juice.
