Hot Grape Juice

Y1 and Y3 students celebrated June with some tasty recipes that were also fun to make, inspired on June parties. This typical drink brought them warmth and closeness and also introduced them to spices such as cloves, cinnamon and ginger, allowing them to appreciate a mixture of cut fruit with their grape juice. They could drink it warm if preparing it in-person in class, or just enjoy drinking it as a cool juice if online joining us for a remote class.

Ingredients:

• 1/2 litre grape juice
• 2 spoons sugar
• 1 pineapple (canned or natural fruit- peeled
• 1 apple- cut
• 1 lime or lemon-cut
• 1 orange-cut
• 1 small spoon of cloves
• 1 piece of ginger- sliced
• 2 pieces cinnamon

METHOD:

1- Cut the pineapple in small pieces and place it in the pan with the sugar, the cloves, the cinnamon and the ginger.  In class, the mixture will be already heated and students will add their fruit to individual portions. In remote classes, the students will drink cold juice.

2 - After boiling the pineapple with spices, remove cloves and cinnamon and add the grape juice and stir. Let it all boil for a few minutes (3-5) to incorporate the flavor and add other fruita t end. Students in remote classes just stir with spoon without heating.

3 - Tip: You can add other fruit as you like: peaches, grapes, or others.

4 - Decorate your drink with slices of lemon or Orange and keep in a jar in fridge.
