Bread Pie lasagna - Y1


We wanted to inspire our Y1 pupils to feel that they could make tasty dishes with simple products having fun as usual. With our signature tomato sauce on slices of bread, they added their own quantities of cheese and herbs and felt proud to create this popular recipe for themselves.

INGREDIENTS
1/2 loaf sliced bread
2 cups tomato sauce for pies and lasagna 
200g sliced mussarella cheese (or 100g mussarella and 100g parmesan)
100g ricotta cream
1 bunch herbs: parsley, chives, mint and basil.
2 tbsp. olive oil
2 or 3 ripe tomatoes

METHOD:
1 - slice the tomatoes and cut the slices of cheese in small pieces.
2 - Chop your herbs of choice.
3 - Make layers on a slice of bread and cover with the tomato, the cheese, the ricotta cream, the herbs and the sauce. Repeat for another layer and cover with one slice.
4 - Place on tray lined with paper and bake in oven at 200 Celsius for 10 to 20 minutes, until cheese melts.
